Our Butte College instructors and employee training consultants are business professionals with real-world experience, knowledge, and credentials. Our trainers consistently meet or exceed high performance standards in their respective areas of expertise. All instructors have a minimum of 10 years of industry experience and keep current with training advances at the cutting edge of their specialties. We require all instructors to be an expert in their field.
Jonathan "Joc" Clark
PhD Leadership & Change Management. MEd Organizational Development
Development Dimensions International and Achieve Global certified trainer
Dr. Joc Clark has specialized in creating collaborative working environments, leadership skills and organizational development for more than 25 years. His employer training is customized using experiential methods for programs including participatory strategic planning, strengths based leadership, appreciative inquiry, coaching, transformational leadership, multicultural and action learning experiences. Joc holds a PhD in Leadership Studies and Change Management, a MEd in Organization Development, and a BA in Psychology and Spanish.
Emiliano Jimenez-Cornejo

Emiliano is a recovered economist passionate about helping organizations build psychologically safe work environments, creating a trauma-informed and resiliency-focused workforce where every employee feels respected, seen, valued, motivated, and engaged to improve their lives, organizations, and community. Emiliano is the lead trainer for the "Resiliency in the Workforce" program at the Training Place. Since 2017, when he joined the College, Emiliano has worked with many organizations from various industries, including non-profit and government agencies in northern California, helping supervisors, managers, and leadership teams further develop skills and tools to address the most challenging problems at work, resulting in higher employee engagement, morale, and productivity while minimizing turnover rates. All of Emiliano's training topics embrace a people-first approach. Emiliano brings a background in economics and a variety of certifications, including Training Within Industry (TWI) Job Relations & Job Instructions, Trauma Resource Institute Trainer, PACEs Interface, and more.

John DahlgrenTrainer and CTE Faculty, Butte College
Upskill Academy for Mechanical, Electrical and Fluid Technologies, Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Power Apps, OSHA Outreach Training for 1910 General Industry 10 and 30 hour John Dahlgren is an industry professional and a faculty member at Butte college. John brings over 35 years of industry and business experience to his teaching and the training needs throughout California. John brings extensive experience in manufacturing, construction, and small business ownership. John has experience in the areas of engineering and manufacturing operations management, safety, and environmental management. John is an authorized OSHA General Industry Order Outreach Trainer for OSHA 10-hour and OSHA 30-hour trainings. John is a quality professional, a graduate of the Philip Crosby Quality College with extensive experience with the development, implementation, and management of ISO-based quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS-9100 and FDA Good Manufacturing Principles) and has served in medical devices and aerospace regulated industries managing all regulatory and clearance matters. John is a practitioner of lean manufacturing/enterprise principles and has been served as a lean champion for three major lean rollouts. In addition to classroom teaching, coaching, mentoring, and facilitation are John’s business passions with motto “helping you get where you want to go from where you are.” |
Reanette Etzler
Communication and Leadership
Reanette is a DDI and John Maxwell certified trainer and coach. Her training in leadership, coaching, communication and human resources helps trainees advance their skills and work performance. Reanette brings to The Training Place more than 25 years of experience in executive roles, entrepreneurship, human resources, and workforce training.
Jaime Grettum
Salesforce, Development Dimensions International, Achieve Global certified trainer
Jamie Grettum has over15 years of experience in the corporate training industry as a Change Leader and Business Analyst. Jamie draws on her experience as a Director level manager in tech start ups and large corporate environments to offer practical consulting and training to organizations. Jamie’s passion project is working with communities across the US helping individuals in workforce development programs improve skills and open doors for advancement. A common thread across all her courses is increasing the quality and frequency of conversations between leaders and followers.
Sean Loch
BAR Smog Update Certification Trainer
Instructor Sean Loch is the owner NorCal Auto Service and Sales in Chico, CA. He specializes in California smog inspection, failure diagnosis, problem vehicles, and bumper-to-bumper diagnosis. He has a unique way of taking the most complicated systems and breaking them down into terms anyone can understand and he uses that same technique in the classroom. Sean's classes are interesting and entertaining.

Jes Vargas has more than 28 years of experience in the fields of Engineering, Quality, Project Management, Business Development, Manufacturing and Executive Management at GCS Inc, Bombardier, Advance Technical Systems, Siemens and Rabbit Semiconductor. Throughout his career, Jes has served as a prime change agent within organizations. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering, a MBA in Operations, and certifications in TQM, Material Management, and Lean Manufacturing.

Shawn Volland is our resource at The Training Place for energizing and practical training. Shawn has more than 20 years of professional training and academic teaching experience, including OSHA, TWI, CalTrans Construction, Trenching Safety and Traffic Control Procedures. Shawn earns high performance ratings by helping employers improve the bottom line, with outcomes yielding reduced turnover, elimination of waste or rework, and keeping employees safe in the workplace.

Ann Wicks has more than 20 years of experience advising companies of all sizes, and individuals, in matters involving employment and labor law. She works both locally in Butte County and with clients and firms in San Francisco and beyond. Ann specializes in a variety of workplace legal issues including wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, whistleblower retaliation, wage and hour, workplace violence, contracts, Sarbanes-Oxley, WARN Act violations, and trade secrets.
